Position Description
The Department of English at Harvard University seeks to make a tenure-track appointment in Medieval British Literature at the rank of Assistant Professor, expected to be effective July 1, 2017. The successful candidate will have a record of publication and strong scholarly potential in any area of the field. Teaching areas include Old English, Middle English, Insular Multilingualism, and the History of the English Language.

Basic Qualifications
Doctorate or terminal degree in English or related discipline required by the time the appointment begins.
Additional Qualifications
Demonstrated excellence in teaching is desired.

Those in serious consideration for the position will be expected to submit in early November the entire dissertation or as much of it as is completed (or, alternatively, a book-length publication).
